AI and Volunteering: Designing Human-Centered Impact in an Age of Automation
AI is already changing how volunteering programs are planned, coordinated, and measured, often without teams fully realizing it. Matching employees to opportunities, managing capacity, tracking impact, and scaling programs across regions are all becoming harder at the same time, and expectations are rising.
The AI and Volunteering workshop goes beyond the hype to explore where AI actually helps, where it creates risk, and how to use it responsibly inside employee volunteering programs. Through real examples and guided discussion, we examine how AI can reduce coordination load, improve participation pathways, and support better decision-making, without losing the human connection that makes volunteering meaningful.
Participants will leave with a clearer framework for evaluating AI use cases, practical guidance on where to apply AI today, and guardrails for keeping people, nonprofits, and trust at the center of program design. Because the future of volunteering will not be built by automation alone. It will be shaped by how thoughtfully we design it.
