TheConnectionsTour

A listening tour with social impact practitioners on business's role in addressing the social connection crisis.

Social impact practitioners gathered around a table

This summer we kicked off a listening tour across the country. Corporate social impact leaders from Amazon, Starbucks, Adobe, Verizon, Boeing, Boston Consulting Group, and REI have joined us for dinner roundtable conversations about the role of business in addressing the social connection crisis.

We started in Seattle, and we're excited to announce our second stop: Minneapolis-St. Paul!

It's a chance for you and your peers to share what you're seeing and learning as social connection emerges as the next major social impact cause, much like the environment was 30 years ago. Since we started working on this, something has shifted. Companies like Atlassian, Fidelity, Johnson & Johnson, and Macy's have begun integrating social connection into their corporate social impact strategies.

The business case is becoming harder to ignore: loneliness costs employers an estimated $154 billion a year in lost productivity, and the ripple effects touch retention, culture, and performance in ways we're only beginning to measure.

Goodera, our Volunteering Reconnected partner, is hosting the dinner with us on October 8th. I'm excited to experience some of the best Minneapolis has to offer, from the food to the company, and to keep this conversation going with all of you in person.

Cheers,

Connections Tour Launch: Seattle

Our first gathering with Seattle social impact practitioners around the table, testing what connection-first volunteering feels like.

What is Connections?

Volunteering has always brought people together, but that connection is usually incidental, not intentional. The Seattle workshop brings social impact leaders together to explore what happens when connection becomes the point of volunteering, not just a byproduct.

Goodera has partnered with the US Chamber of Connection, a national nonprofit working to reverse the decline in social trust, to explore volunteering as a more intentional way to bring people together.
